With a formidable track record Trevor moved his base to Los Angeles and started feverishly writing. Completing an album worth of songs he started shopping around to various record companies. Many record labels believed he was far too left field and uncommercial. One of the companies that felt strongly about the material however was Atlantic. They said three songs in particular were not "hit" material (City of Love, Hold On, and the only #1 hit Yes ever had, Owner of a Lonely Heart). Atlantic also suggested two sets of people who were interested in putting together a band, completely separate from the solo project. One was Jack Bruce and Keith Emerson. The other was Chris Squire and Alan White, formerly of Yes. Trevor was soon in London rehearsing with both. It wasn’t long after Trevor, Chris and Alan convened that they immediately felt the chemistry. Original Yes keyboardist Tony Kaye was brought in to complete the lineup and work began on what was to be the debut album from a band named Cinema, with Trevor and Chris sharing lead vocal duties. Trevor Horn was recruited to be the album's producer. With the recording of Trevor’s songs nearly complete Chris played some of the new album for Jon Anderson who loved the material. He sang on one of the tracks and Yes was reborn, in what would become one of the most unlikely and most successful reunions in the history of rock.
